On December 13, 2025, Rox of Hope Empowerment Foundation proudly marked a significant milestone with the successful and official launch of the organization through our Divers-itea Party Scholarship Fundraiser, held at the Allandale Recreation Centre in Barrie, Ontario.
The evening brought together community members, partners, educators, students, and supporters, all united by a shared commitment to equity, opportunity, and empowerment. Proceeds from the event supported our Black Education Empowerment Fund (B.E.E.F.), a scholarship offered through Georgian College, designed to advance access to education and create meaningful pathways for Black students.
We were honoured by the presence and contributions of distinguished community and civic leaders, including The Honourable Kurt Davis, Consul General of Jamaica; Adam Holness, Toronto Police Service Constable; Mina Amrith, Equity in Action Director, Nurse, and Women’s Advocate; and His Worship Mayor Alex Nuttall, Mayor of Barrie—along with other distinguished leaders and elected officials from across our community. Their presence reinforced the importance of leadership at every level in advancing equity, safety, and access.
The evening was further enriched by vibrant entertainment and inspiring performances that showcased the remarkable talent of students from across Simcoe County’s public and Catholic school boards, highlighting the creativity, excellence, and promise of our next generation.
A special highlight of the evening was the official unveiling of the Rox of Hope Empowerment Foundation logo, symbolizing a bold new chapter rooted in hope, resilience, and collective impact.
Founder and Executive Director Roxann Whittingham-Oloyede expressed heartfelt gratitude to our sponsors, attendees, volunteers, and family members whose generosity and support made this launch a resounding success.
With strong momentum and a shared vision for the future, we look forward to welcoming everyone back for a bigger, bolder, and even more impactful Divers-itea 2026.
